Title: GO APE
Post by: gracebuster on March 31, 2017, 10:17:36 PM
So it turns out that sometimes an opportunity presents itself that is so unbelievably tempting that to ignore it would seem criminal. Such a thing happened recently. As many here are aware, I have released much of my collection to others. I keep a small selection of the things I love most. Imagineering make up kits, Universal Studios tour ephemera, wax museum memorabilia, some Don Post masks and aurora models. Of course there are other knick knacks of my youth like Captain Action figures and Major matt mason toys.

But Planet of The Apes is a secret passion, as it is the perfect crossover for many of us horror fans! As Hammer horror was waning, The Apes were unleashed on the big screen and we had color "monsters" once more.

Imagine my delight, then, when I found myself in the right place at the right time.

Sweet pick ups!! I loved seeing the films on TV as a kid, and was quite ecstatic when the series came out. I used to have a few Mego figures... but alas, no more.

Are you going to Monsterpalooza next Saturday? There's a Planet of the Apes presentation at noon on Saturday.

Amazing finds! When it comes to Holy Grails anything "Apes" fits the bill.

Sweet pick ups!!

How do you know they didn't just walk in on their own?

I think gracebuster ought to walk them over to the
Monsterpalooza Museum next week. They'll fit right in
with some of the programming there.

Fantastic figures! I still remember seeing the original film with my parents when it was first released. One of the best endings of all time! Hope to see those figures in person sometime my friend. Congrats!

Thank you all. I wanted to add a shout out to Mac mcDermott for the assist on getting them and Rob Cametti for the assist on shipping them. These are two great guys. Glad they are in my collector life and real life. :)

I have an old photo of what appears to be the same chimps and Dr. Zaius from the Stars Hall of Fame wax museum that was in Orlando in the 1970s and '80s. I will scan it and post it.

Yes, please do. I would appreciate that. That is where they came from, I think.

This isn't my own pic, but one taken at the Orlando wax museum in 1976

Apparently, though, versions of these figures were in a San Antonio Ripley museum also, so your figs might be Texans.
