yeah, this was totally ripped off from the unicorn mask!

'Maybe so but have you ever seen a mask with a sea urchin mouth where its nose ought to be?

That nose really is weird - and the little guy has the same nose too!

^ 'My collection of DP masks from the 1980s. These aren't just '80s versions of older characters.
All four were created and produced in the '80s ... and out of production since then. I really should
have more (like a Digger, a Skeksis, and one of those blue Wizards from '82) but these are all I've
got. I do hope to be acquiring two more '80s era DP classics sometime next month. If so, you'll see
them here first at The HMA but here's a clue: both appear in this catalogue ~

Love your masks Maskahuna especially that Snake Mummy and Red Razooly.  I've always been partial to the Razooly masks since they remind me of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion.

Cool mask, jupiter! Reminds me of The Red Skull from Captain America.

The sewn-in hair is a nice touch. I'm surprised they bothered, that late in the mask game.

If that thing jumped out at me from the dark, I'd be the one who's screeching!
'Not sure why the BloodcurdlingBlog never scanned a 2009 catalogue but I've
got one and can attest that Screechoid definitely made it in ~

As previously announced, my two new scores are in, direct from Don Post's "Decade of Masquerade".
I got this first one from GoryGlenn, probably the most recognizable alien of the 1980s and one of
Bill Malone's final projects for DPS. I didn't take a picture of it at the time but suffice to say: it needed
some T.L.C. to be anywhere near displayable. Not until after a foam-fill did I consider it worthy of full
restoration. Following additional patching and reshaping at the neck area, I approached Mrs zotzcoin
about a custom refinish. After all, it was she who had devised the original paint scheme for Post Studios'
own prototype! She came through "with flying colors" and my ET mask can now hold its head up high ~

The second of my new scores is a long-awaited favorite from DP's 960 line of "Hooded Ghouls".
It gives me thrills and chills to welcome the evil dreaded PLAGUE to my collection ~

The casting showed signs of age which included open cracks and stiffening so a foam-fill
was definitely in order. After carefully detaching its fabric hood, the deed was done ~

I thought long and hard about keeping its production finish intact but the desire to have
a PLAGUE mask looking just like it did on 1984's catalog was just too tempting ~

Again, I turned to Mrs zotzcoin who had originally formulated that paint scheme for
Post Studios. The job couldn't have come at a busier time for them but they graciously
squeezed me in to their schedule and delivered beyond my wildest nightmares ~

For my next convention exhibit, I really want the theme to be Don Post masks of the 1970s and '80s.
If approved, these new arrivals will surely be there with me ~

Great stuff, 'huna! That refurbished ET is especially nice. I have one in storage with the factory paint and it's VERY boring compared to yours.

Holy Schnikes 'Huna!! That ET is unrecognizable from his former self. Incredible work and so glad you gave him new life. Best copy I've ever seen.

Plague looks amazing too! Did Mrs. Zotzcoin do the eyes as well? It really makes him come alive. All in all fantastic work across the board, Congrats!

Thanks for the replies, gents. Yes, GoryGlenn, all the paint you see
is the work of Mrs Z.  Hey, I'm a poet and don't even know it!

'Just got my copy of Lee's latest book in the mail this week.
I've already read it through and am re-reading it tonight before bedtime ...
to ensure blissful slumber. 'Great history, fantastic pics, stuff I never knew.
