Celebrating the red, white, and blue
« on: July 04, 2017, 01:46:23 AM »
There's no better time to do so than today. Let's start with red:

It's just too easy and obvious to turn to Devil and Demon masks
for our first color so I'll resist the temptation ... after this one ~

Savage Eye was just about to replace their original deluxe SATAN
with an inferior toothless version. Knowing this, I raced over to
our local magic shop and bought an old style copy in 1979.
It was their last one in stock ~

Prior to keeping an account of purchase dates, I owned my first DP
VERMILLION SKULL sometime in the early 1970s ~

I've had this DPS/PMG prototype in storage for many years. It was later
catalogued in 2001 as the DREGS OF DISTORTION ROBOT
but with extra added features and a revised paint scheme ~

Next, the white:

There aren't too many out there since the color can often be perceived
as light grey but I have another three subjects here that should fill the
bill nicely. The first to come my way was DP's 800 line SKULL in
the early '70s ~

Several years later, I added DP's White TIMBERWOLF
and Death Studios' MEGAS ~

Now, on to blue:

'Yet another color that can be mistaken for a shade of grey,
except on characters like the METALUNA MUTANT ~

The only remaining portrait in my files of LIZOID
by House of Horror Studios is somewhat faded ~

However, it does appear in a 1981 group shot which shows its truer color ~

That same year, I acquired a quarter face mask of a "Morlock"
but it was painted green. 'Odd, because every other MORLOCK
mask I've ever seen was unmistakably blue ~

Reply with images of your red, white, and blue masks as we observe
our many freedoms (and fireworks) in the good ol' U.S.A.

That's pretty clever. This topic should yield some really interesting responses. I'll throw down a few of my favorites.

Rubies Demon Master

Ghoulish Productions Lucifer... well as Disguise Incs take on the character.

We'll start with the first latex mask that I ever owned. The Topstone Dracula!

For something more recent, we've got Chiller from Trick or Treat Studios.

Next, a variant of my favorite mask, Ghost by Rubies.

Hellion from Death Studios.

And we'll finish off with a couple of Illusive Concepts masks that blew me away as a kid. Albino Dragon...

...And Man in the Moon.

While it's not quite here yet, I'm pretty excited to own Haunted by TOTS.

And I'll top it off with one of the coolest vampires that I've ever seen. Vlad by Ghoulish Productions.

While I'm at it, I thought I'd post the mask of one of my favorite wrestlers as a kid...The Patriot!

Timely topic!

I don't have any red masks; the only truly white (other than a Stormtrooper) is the DP Skull. I briefly owned a Forum Novelties Frankenstein, which was basically blue. Mine was a bad copy (mushed nose and bolts) so I returned it for store credit. I really wasn't happy with the design so didn't want a replacement.

Anyway, Happy 4th, fellers!
