This is a gorilla mask from the Halloween 4 "Vincent Drug Store scene". I cannot figure out what mask this may be but would love to add it to my collection.
Halloween 4 came out in 1988 so it's likely a 70's or 80's piece.

I'm sorry I don't have better pics but hoping one of you mask gurus may be able to help. Thanks for looking.

The only pair of custom Don Post monster hands I ever
owned in the 1960s were those of the Mummy, long
before I even had my first copy of the headmask itself.
They cost my Dad $18.50 from a Hollywood magic shop
in 1966, a sum which could've bought us three full bags
of groceries back then. The hands were way too big for
me to wear on Halloween (I was only nine years old)
and my chances of someone buying me the $35 mask
seemed slim to none at the time. We kept those hands
for a few weeks, then returned to the magic shop and
exchanged them for a ventriloquist dummy. I had great
fun with that puppet for years afterwards but now feel
a dummy for never having photographed those first
Mummy hands!



In the early 1970s I joined the working world
and managed to round up all the old style hands
before they went out of production forever in
1974 ~













Have you ever noticed how the left index finger
on all the old hands veers away from the others
towards the thumb?



On a hunch I once asked Verne Langdon to hold out
his hands for me and sure enough, his left index finger
curved off much the same way. This is strong evidence
that Pat Newman originally sculpted those monster mitts
over life cast armatures of Mr Langdon's own. Sadly, I
never thought to directly confirm this theory before he
passed away last year.
Don Post Jr, however, had at least five full years of running
these outsized hands through production at DPS and still
remembers it as something of a nuisance:

" 'Definitely more trouble than they were worth. We had
two-piece production molds with big flanges on them.
'Tremendous amount of trimming involved. They should've
been one-piece molds. Today I could've figured out how.
It would've eliminated a lot of labor.
Back in the day when my Dad and Verne were doing this,
there wasn't any reality in the way things were priced.
If you look at it, there's probably as much paintwork on
each hand as there would be on a mask. So for a pair,
it's twice as much paint at half the price. But when you
make hands to go with masks, which we did, and charge
what we did ... that's love."
